On the evening of Friday, 18 June, President Sarkozy was very sad to learn of the death of a lance corporal from the Tarbes 1st Parachute Hussar Regiment.
The armoured squadron's combat post came under artillery fire wounding a French soldier and Afghan interpreter. They were evacuated to Kabul hospital where the lance corporal died from his wounds.
